DAVE…DAVE…(Slap,slap)!
Wake up mate..,can you hear me Dave?
It’s alright Mate we’re here!
It was just a (bad?) dream.
Gee, and I was worried about Irene having withdrawals!
Dave, (silly ole buggar), I promised Irene that I would try to be more regular and I would try to include you in that, however, I have to report that I am under instuctions from our head honcho to be less active here and get on with another project that we have planned so it’s all her fault. See Irene, she’s being mean to me again!
Cheers, (to all who feel neglected, Daves, Irene, Ian, Rhonda, etc.,etc.

Dear Dave
This letter has me a little confused, because if I haven’t been here, I am not really sure where I have been! If it is something I have said for you to feel rejected, I just dont remember! Now that causes me a little bit of concern about me!

Irene,
If it makes you feel better, (without being patronising), I’m more than a little confused too, but Dave will be alright. In the mean time, maybe you and I should sit down and enjoy a nice cup of tea.., put the jug on and I’ll just fetch Teddy, (just don’t let on to Ian that I’ve got him, he’s really happy with me)!
Dave, we’ll get back to you shortly!
Cheers
Irene and Westy

Dear Lyndal and Westy
I think that our problem is, that when the site ’seemingly’ goes to ’sleep’ we all think…what happened! We really do know that you are all frantically busy and trying so hard and have ‘other lives’ etc. etc. BUT when it seems that there isn’t anyone there, we do feel a little neglected! Sorry!!

Hug A Truckie
From the Illawarra Mercury 15-11-2008…570 trucks are expected to participate in a convoy raising money for ‘kids with cancer’ Camp Quality Illawarra, all eventually congregating at the Croome Rd. Complex Albion Park Rail on the 14-11-2008.

Dear David Niven
Another ‘Hug a Truckie’ for you! As car drivers, how come you and I seem to have a soft spot for the Truckie? Must be because we have met some really nice ones. Glad to see that you have recovered from your regection episode; it sure is a relief to Westy and I. Also it is good to see that Lyndal is back to loving Westy again…’most of the time’
This is an intriguing site with the relationship mishaps thrown in amongst all of the serious stuff isn’t it?

Hug A Truckie…Ozprodrivers site, 17-11-08
A truck driver risked his life to move his B/Double which was leaking Ethanol when he pulled into the Marlborough BP Station. Instead of abandoning the vehicle and raising the alarm, he calmly drove it to a nearby truck stop where it was safer to disconnect the leaking tanks and then raised the alarm to emergency service crews who came immediately, saying that his quick thinking and bravery prevented a potential explosion and they hailed him a hero for his actions.

Yes Irene, the “Hug a Truckie” stories are great. Should be more of them.
It just goes to show that there are good, caring people on our roads.
We’ve got to weed out the crook ones along the way….and that’s cars and trucks.
I absolutely do not subscribe to the notion of “them” and “us”,we share the road ahead together with common sense and courtesy.
Better days ahead.
Dave

Dear David Niven
That is a good reminder about ‘us ‘ and ‘them’: We are all to be responsible drivers, regardless of what we drive. The experiences which you have had, as an Ambulance Officer and the aftermath of smashes you have had to deal with, re-inforces safety attitudes required of all of us. Is it so idealistic to come back to the values of common sense and courtesy? As you say, let’s hope that we see better days ahead.
Safe travelling…Irene Baldwin

I just wish I could, for once, stay OUT of bloody hospital!!

Hug a Truckie
Dear Lyndal; interesting to have Westy’s response here, but four women truckies are creating history, according to Ozprodrivers site 20-11-2008; by taking on truck driving roles, traditionally held by men at Premier Coal in the 60 year history of the company. The men have really been accepting the girls. Good on you girls! Lyndal, this could be another career thought for you, with all the trucking knowledge that you are gaining on C to C 100.

Dear Lyndal
I was talking to Rod Baldwin and he says that IPEC Sydney have a number of women truck drivers and they are well thought of within the company…isn’t that great!
