“They are causing more problems than the average truckie …..”
The amount of times I leave the distance in front of my truck open for braking and another vehicle or more pulls sharply in front causing me to break sharply. Luckily I have pulled up in time - so far.
This happens so often I would have to keep that distance to a very minimum to attempt a deterence and still some person will do it.
It isn’t young hoons or any other minority group - all types really but especially young women who are often seen with their mobile in hand texting madly as they do it.
I know there are some cowboy drivers out there and I applaud what you are trying to do but you have to address the other factors as well for I fear they are causing more problems than the average truckie.
Cheers Vaughan

this is true mate you leave a space to achieve a safe stop and some idoit totally rapt up in gaining 5 metres on the lane change texting on a mobile and then cuts someone else off to gain a little more in the other lane i have seen it on a daily basis in sydney its bloody dangerous there has to be more driver awareness and education on this subject especially for the young drivers that are the main offenders i for one would hate to live with the fact that i just killed a driver because of ignorance of why we leave the space in front and why you cant merge into it

How can you educated the uneducated that doesnt want to learn….travel on the road between Redbank Plains and the new mess of roadworks just before the Logan turnoff in the peak hours both morning and evening and there you will see many classic examples of this behaviour…. a real eye opener there

No not yet dave but i will. Mate i was trying to explain this subject to one of my truckie mates today and attempted to explain it like this ….. do you remember when your or my grandad was teaching you or me how to drive he showed a number of movements that were construded in his mind as safe to do when in some cases they were not so safe but you went along with what he said because he was your grandad and had been driving since the first release of the mighty fj holden so he knew ….. and that was that ….. you cheeky little bludger and if you questioned his infinite wisdom he would would give you the speel that he walked to school 30 miles each day to attend class in bare feet in blinding snow with no coat to get an education so that your future father that hadnt been born yet could get a good job to support a family that also hadnt been born yet so you were born and grow to be a smart ass to your grand father and recieve the ritual clip in the ear and accepted his word just because.
Ok ….. now if you are still following this and wondered if your mate nitro has finally snapped and has to be assisted with electro shock therepy and men with white coats are arriving any second. Some that know me probably say that happened a long time ago anyhow.
Does anybody get were i am going with this yet? Well since you asked, bad habits are passed on because in the majority of cases these days by your dad mum (sorry mum i am so going to get it if she reads this) or that icon of all australian families - your grand parents bless there hearts - and efforts in the snow with no coat hey grandad and i cant wait for that clip mate but all jokes aside in an effort to squeeze the family bucks and do not send the fruit of there loins the littles apples and all that other stuff that mums say about there kids to a trained professional to learn to drive because they are veteran drivers that have never had a traffic infringement in their life and will tell you how good they really are without prompting.
BAD HABITS ARE THE LEGACY OF THREE GENERATIONS OF IDIOT DRIVERS THAT HAVE BEEN LOVINGLY PASSED ON TO THE UP AND COMING DRIVERS through not learning to drive in a safe and caring manner by a teacher of the art. now before i get a thousand death threats from all those great grand parents that did the right thing and those parents that were good drivers and passed this art on to theIr kids in a responsible manner and produced good drivers especially my grand dad bloody good driver just ask him he will tell ya used to race stock cars and still does every time he gets the dodge pheonix out of the garage and goes for a cruise into town. Bloody scary stuff i tell ya and still threatens me to the old clip in the ear when in his words I become a bloody know it all and a cheeky little bugger even though i am two feet taller than him and about 100 kilos heavier than him.
This theoey applies to a lot of things. Have any of you seen the add on tv were the parents are yelling out the window at other with the kids listening attently to them and acting like bloody gooses in general well its just a theory …..
your mate nitro
