Report a Truckie Report Sept 15
———————–Truckie Details———————
Registration Number: U12938
Company Insignia: Didn’t have time to notice
———————–Incident Details——————–
Time: about 12.45pm
Date: 15th September
Place of Incident: Entrance to the M4 and then again at the Toll gates on the M4 heading towards Parramatta.
Details of Incident: Firstly when we were coming onto the M4 from Homebush Bay drive, the traffic has to merge to one lane, the truck had plenty of room to merge behind the car that was traveling behind me, but the truck sped up and then tried to merge nearly wiping the car behind me out. The car behind me had no where to go and looked very worried, I couldn’t give him more room as there was a car right in front of me.
Then as I was traveling through the toll gates the same truck sped right up behind me, I could only see the front grill in my revision mirror that was how close he was. I was in the left lane and all the other cars were traveling the same speed as me which wasn’t slow. The truck then decided to overtake me on a solid white line and was EXTREMELY close to my tail it scared me. Then the truck sped off and was definitely going faster than the speed limit.
What concerned me the most was that when he over took me very close to my tail, if the truck was to have clipped my back, my self and my 2 children would have been history.
Thanks for setting up this website it is nice to think there is some one to tell your story too.
Thanks again,
Kym :o)

The above passage is a very real issue. Not just for this person who witnessed this one, but also for trucks. While I’m not excusing or playing the bush lawyer for this driver’s actions it must be said, that this is normally the reverse. And its not just on ramps, in peak hour you see this behaviour all the time when cars travel on the emergency stopping lane to overtake (an action I might add attracts a penalty in Victoria at least).
The problem that exists with the riding up too close to overtake is simply stupidity on the truck drivers behalf. On the M4 as most people that travel it will tell it’s about 4 lanes wide in some areas. I amazes me as to why some of these people think that they need to leave it to the last minute to overtake. I have seen cars partake in this behaviour as well. There is no excuse in my mind for not moving lanes a lot earlier, for 2 reasons at least. Firstly, there is the potential for the driver being overtaken to panic, and secondly, the more you swing on the steering wheel (and being top heavy only exaggerates it) the more the vehicle sways. The more sway you get, the higher the risk of rollover.

i am a driver and understand what u are saying and am sorry .
he prob got on from silverwater road heading west far left lane, now the two right lanes are e tag only so he doesnt have to stop
if its peak hour its too hard to merge so i go through the change given and e tag lane
