It is estimated that 25,000 trucks travel the Pacific Highway each week. It is also estimated that some 20% of these drivers entertain a “king of the road” mentality – viewing aggression, speeding and tailgating as acceptable driving practice. If we consider that to be approx 5,000 truck drivers each week, each committing multiple dangerous driving offences as they pass through our north coast area, we then begin to develop an understanding of the magnitude of the problem.
The COAST TO COAST 100 campaign has been launched to attempt to re-educate
this minority of truckies whose driving style involves deliberate acts of aggression.
Many motorists have contacted organisers offering to make financial contributions to the Coast to Coast 100 campaign which is currently privately funded. Your contributions – gratefully accepted – will ensure the success of this road safety initiative funding windscreen stickers, administrative and promotional costs.
Donations can be made at any Summerland Credit Union
