Indy since you asked for it here goes my top 10 Pet Hates as a Truck Driver:

1: 4day old “meat” Pies in Roadhouses
2: Mismanagement who have never driven trucks
3: Mismanagement who look at a map and say “Oh its 1200kms so thats a 12hr drive” despite the fact there’s 47 towns in there all of which have 50km/hr speed limits!
4: Clowns in cars who jam on the anchors and slow down to 60 coming INTO the overtaking lane and then shoot off like a bat out of hell when you slow down
5: Potholes
6: The coast road (Any of them, give me an inland route any day and the further west the better!)
7: Speeding Trucks
8: Speeding Cars
9: Motorists overtaking on blind corners
10: Anyone who labels us all as drug takers. We don’t all use drugs. Most of us are smarter than that. Yes Most not all unfortunately but car drivers are the same aren’t they?

Now I know it’s not 5 and I threw in ten but hey some of them needed to be there…

I must do something about this sense of humour of mine! I think what I wrote went right through to the keeper! The comments were VERY much tongue in cheek! I was trying to draw a bit of a response re: logbooks for all etc! Dayum! Missed!

Yeh Indy I even found it a bit strange that we didn’t have a response to the “Top 5 pet hates”for truckies.
I don’t mind a bit of criticism of car drivers.Seen plenty bad drivers both sides of the fence!
Don’t agree with your remark of people with no concept in any way,shape or form of truck driving airing their views[hyperbole or not],this is how you get everything out in the open.There would be a few truckies out there that think that all motorists are out to get them also.
Generally people are just interested in safety and getting home in one piece.If you look back at the beginning of this site you’ll find quite a few complaints about trucks[heavy vehicles]but this is starting to taper off as we begin to get an understanding from both sides. Usually it is that the few bad apples can ruin the whole barrel. Human nature it is that we remember more of the crook issues than the pleasant ones.
I even agree with you on the ones that you threw in for good measure.
Don’t think that even you would disagree with the comment of 457 visa drivers.

Interesting to note there have been (to date) NO, ZERO, NADA responses from truckies about pet hates with relation to ordinary motorists, here, is it not? Could it be we just get on with the job and leave the whinging to others?????? hahahahaha
Perhaps this may be the first comment……..
My pet hate is people with no concept in any way, shape or form of the parameters of driving a truck airing their views, mostly with hyperbole (good word at this time of night don’t you reckon ) and with little basis on fact! Remember that you will only remember the very few that you may PERCEIVE as having “done the wrong thing”, and, as is human nature, did not even notice the VERY MANY who just went about their business in a calm and professional manner. Funny that!

I will add a couple more, just for good measure.
ALL motorists should be required to fill in a log book if their journey extends beyond 100Kms of the registered address of the motor vehicle.
ALL motor vehicles registered on Australian roads should be speed limited.
ALL motorists should be randomly checked to ensure compliance with relevent regulations

I will think of a few more, later!

Indy ….. what about: All foreign nationals entering the country under 457 visas to drive trucks SHOULD undergo identical driver training and assessmemt as the rest of us do before they are permitted to drive heavy vehicles?
